Edwin Theodore DeLaney was the only grandfather my mother knew. Her grandfather died at an early age, leaving his widow and three small children. Her grandmother, Minnie moved to California and shortly after, married Edwin. He was divorced and had a little girl of his own, "Veda".
Although this poem is undated, we can tell by the content that is was written in his old age. Veda took care of him for many years, until his death in 1990.

(Disclaimer: Edwin was using poetic license. Veda never called him a name or hit him with anything. I can say there was a shouting match or two along the way though. Veda gave copies of this poem to all the family that attended his memorial.)
