Randy over at Genea-Musings has posted our weekly assignment. Here’s the mission for this week:
1) List your matrilineal line - your mother, her mother, etc. back to the first identifiable mother. Note: this line is how your mitochondrial DNA was passed to you!
2) Tell us if you have had your mitochondrial DNA tested, and if so, which Haplogroup you are in.
Here is my matrilineal line:
a) Me – Regina
b) My Mom
c) Gladys Jane Montgomery (04 October 1914 in Boerne, Kendall, Texas - 24 January 2002 in Truth or Consequences, Sierra, New Mexico) Married Virgil Cancil Crew.
d) Mina "Minnie" Schmidt (27 January 1894 in Kendalia, Kendall, Texas - 12 August 1960 in Porterville, Tulare, California) Married Oda Theodore Montgomery and Edwin Theodore De Laney.
e) Alvina Spangenberg (15 June 1871 in New Braunfels, Comal, Texas - 18 January 1930 in Boerne, Kendall, Texas) Married Hubert Schmidt.
f) Anna Marie Wersdoerfer (Abt. August 1843 in Germany – Date unknown) Married Hermann Spangenberg.
g) Anna Schmidt (Abt. 1812 in Germany – Date unknown) Married Joseph Wersdoerfer and Alois Hofacker.
I have not had a mitochondrial DNA test. I’ve only recently become interested in having a DNA test done but the cost is prohibitive at the moment.
